McCrometer Celebrates 55 Years
of Excellence in Flow Meter Innovation

A global leader in flow measurement and flow meter technologies, McCrometer is celebrating its 55th anniversary in business achieved through technology innovation, advanced product design, quality manufacturing, excellent customer service and overall instrument value.

In 1955, Floyd McCall, his twin brother Lloyd McCall and brother-in-law Art Crom founded what was then known as the McCall-Crom Engineering Company. Unable to find the right flow meter for their irrigation system, they designed their own and named it the Mc® Propeller Flow Meter. The company was renamed in 1961 by rolling together the names McCall and Crom with the term “meter” into the name: McCrometer.

Floyd McCall was the product development heart of McCrometer in those early days, and in 1987 he invented and patented the breakthrough V-Cone® Flow Meter. Since that time, the Mc Propeller and V-Cone Flow Meters have become two of the great success stories of the process instrumentation industry.

Today there are hundreds of thousands of McCrometer flow meters actively operating across the globe. From subsea oil platforms 6,000 feet down in the North Sea to automated crop monitoring systems in the great plains of the USA to electric power generation systems supporting America’s leading universities to large diameter water system pipes supplying major metropolitan regions, there are McCrometer brand name flow meters and automated measurement solutions at work.

With its sole focus as flow meter technology, McCrometer provides customers with accurate monitoring and sensing solutions for liquid, gas and steam fluid processes in a wide range of industries. Flow meter users around the world rely upon McCrometer’s highly reliable technologies for their most challenging fluid measurement applications, including the oil/gas, industrial process, municipal water/wastewater and agricultural irrigation industries.

McCrometer’s world headquarters in Hemet, CA, and its other facilities are staffed by expert flow measurement engineers, technicians and specialists with thousands of years of collective instrumentation expertise. The company’s leading-edge engineering, advanced manufacturing and continuous improvement quality systems continue to deliver flow meters offering simple installation, superior performance, low maintenance and low instrument life-cycle costs.

McCrometer is recognized among its customers and peers for its industry leading calibration laboratories. The Hemet Facility features three robust gravimetric systems and two volumetric systems with a maximum rate of 4,000 gpm. The company also maintains a second calibration laboratory in Porterville, CA, which is one of the world’s largest volumetric test facilities owned by a meter manufacturer with flow rates up to 60,000 gpm for testing of flow meters from 3 to 72 inches.
